Mars ain’t the kind of place to raise a kid. In fact, it’s cold as Hell. Rocket Man.

Bob’s Donuts is da best donuts.
Here you go, some scary crap for Halloween. Weird-scary crap.
An exhibit of Canadian photographer Jeff Wall’s photos opened at the Tate Modern this week. The exhibition’s website has one of the best ways I’ve seen to explore an exhibit online– you can see the show room by room.
Here’s a cool little Flickr series of a snake eating a fish. If I find any more photos of snakes eating things I’ll let you know.
Norwegian Black Metal came out of a 1980’s movement which aimed in part to rid Norway of its Christianity and return to the country’s Pagan/Viking roots — and to rock out. New York photographer Peter Beste has a made a great series of photos of these hardcore Norwegian Black Metalians. Beste’s work is on view right now at the BLK/MRKT gallery in Santa Monica until November 12th.
A Massachusetts camera collector has put up a gallery of photos developed from cameras he’s restored.

So it’s funny, nearly every guy I know (me too) admits to being secretly in love with Sarah Silverman and every gal doesn’t know who the hell she is– it’s a marketing sweetspot that’s gone unexploited for too long. This week there is a puffpiece on Silverman in the New Yorker– a sure sign somebody’s gonna break. Maybe this is it. Her film Jesus is Magic opens Nov. 18th at the Lumiere in SF. Some of the bits referenced in the NYker piece: As Chappelle and the Pam Anderson Roast.

Yesterday was John Peel Day and the BBC’s Radio One put on a hell of a show. Don’t worry if you missed it, um, like I did. You can listen to the whole damn day here. Complete with tracklistings. The UK is a radio utopia.
New York artist Adam Cvijanovic paints huge wallpaper-like murals of landscapes directly on Tyvek wallboard. Love Poem (10 Minutes After the End of Gravity) shows us what suburban L.A. might look like if it all just started to float away.
Japanese-born New Yorker Yuken Teruya makes delicate, beautiful little arboreal sculptures out of shopping bags. His work is on view at the Josee Bienvenu Gallery in New York. It was the best thing I saw at the Greater New York 2005 show at PS1.
