The Struggle to Right Oneself

Brooklyn artist Kerry Skarbakka takes photos of himself falling. Using myself as model and with the aid of climbing gear and other rigging, I photograph the body as it dangles from dangerous precipices or tumbles down flights of stairs. The captured gesture of the body is designed for plausiblity of action, which grounds the image in reality.

Drawing on Rubbish

British artist Ian Stevenson likes to draw on rubbish. So I’ve been getting up in the very early hours and with my pens I have been to the outside world and been on an adventure drawing on rubbish. I’ve have many photos and will keep uploading them as the project develops or hopefully you’ll see them in the real world?

Two of the biggest photo houses in the U.S. have joined to created one of the largest free archives of pictures on the internet. The International Center of Photography and the George Eastman House have more than 1,600 images from their photo archives available for browsing on photomuse.org. More than 200,000 images should be online by the time the site is fully set up next year.

The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis offers live broadcasts of their artist lectures and has them all archived on their site. The lineup on the Walker Channel has included lectures and talks with Paul Auster, Kara Walker and Mike Kelley– and that’s just in the past few weeks. The next live talk will be with Chuck Close on July 24th.

KEE is a new kind of musical instument that uses bluetooth to translate movement to sound creating sound and image interpreted from intuitive body movement.
